Speech in Oslo, June 26, 1936: Slave Mind or Lord's Will?

Extract from a speech at NS' national meeting in Oslo on 26 June, 1936.

Our goal will then be to restore the will to rule in the Norwegian people, the will to live, and once again steer the Norwegian ship of state towards great goals. We must then build on the basic ethical and moral values of the Norwegian people, primarily on the old Norwegian concept of honour. Dishonest man, was the worst insult in Norway's heyday. Today, there is hardly a party politician who knows what honor is. Positions are traded and right and wrong are discussed, so and so very right and so and so very wrong, as if there is truth and right only to a percentage Certain.

If we are to rebuild the Norwegian people, we must start with ourselves. We must restore the concept of honor among ourselves. Each one of us must unreservedly stand up for what we believe to be true and right and not just as far as we think it can benefit our private selfish interests. Only then does our life gain truth and meaning. Better to die than live a life of shame. The demand cannot be less for those who want to take part in raising and purifying the Norwegian people's soul, so that it can grow up to what is the Creator's meaning for the Norwegian people.
